May Entry Requirements

Piobaireachd:

R.U. Brown Clasp (Former Winners)
Will be judged by a panel. Each Competitor is to submit four (4) tunes of their own choice with their entry form. All tunes must have a Crunluath variation. Restricted to A Grade or Open players only.
The tune to be played will be advised by the judge at the judging table when the competitor presents to play.
Prize Monies: $1000, $600, $300, $150, $75
No Entry Fee Applicable.

 


R.U. Brown Gold Medal (Open)
Will be judged by a panel. Each Competitor is to submit four (4) tunes of their own choice with their entry form. All tunes must have a Crunluath variation. Restricted to A Grade or Open players only.
The tune to be played will be advised by the judge at the judging table when the competitor presents to play.
Prize Monies: $1000, $600, $300, $150, $75
No Entry Fee Applicable.

R.U. Brown Silver Medal (Intermediate)
Each Competitor is to submit two (2) tunes of their own choice with their entry form. All tunes must have a Crunluath variation.
The tune to be played will be advised by the judge at the judging table when the competitor presents to play.
Prize Monies: $300, $150, $75
No Entry Fee Applicable.

R.U. Brown Bronze Medal (Elementary)
Each Competitor is to submit one (1) tune of their own choice. Tune must have a Crunluath variation.
Prize Monies: $150, $75, $25
No Entry Fee Applicable.

Mervyn Hall Medal (Novice)
Ground and First Variation to be played.
Prize Monies: $75, $40, $20
No Entry Fee Applicable.

Ceol Beag: Hamish Mackenzie Perpetual Trophy (A grade - Open MSR)
Will be judged by two (2) judges. Each Competitor is to submit two (2) MSR sets (Minimum 4 parts per tune) of their own choice with their entry form. Restricted to A Grade or Open players only.
The set to be played will be advised by the judge at the judging table when the competitor presents to play.
Prize Monies: $400, $200, $100, $50, $25
Entry Fee: $5.00
Victorian Pipers Society Perpetual Trophy (A grade - Open Hornpipe into Jig)
Will be judged by two (2) judges. Each Competitor is to submit two (2) Hornpipe/Jig sets (Minimum 4 parts per tune) of their own choice with their entry form.  Restricted to A Grade or Open players only.
The set to be played will be advised by the judge at the judging table when the competitor presents to play.
Prize Monies: $400, $200, $100, $50, $25
Entry Fee: $5.00

Ewen Masson Perpetual Trophy (B grade - Intermediate )
A. March, Strathspey & Reel (Minimum 4 parts per tune) is to be submitted to the Judge on the day when the competitor presents to play.
Prize Monies: $200, $100, $50
Entry Fee: $5.00

B. Hornpipe into Jig (Minimum 4 parts per tune)

Prize Monies: $200, $100, $50

Entry Fee: $5.00

 


Jim Smith Perpetual Trophy (C grade - Sub Intermediate)
Two 6/8 Marches (Minimum 4 parts per tune) are to be submitted to the Judge on the day when the competitor presents to play.
Prize Monies: $100, $50, $25
Entry Fee: $5.00

Mervyn Hall Perpetual Trophy (D grade - Elementary)
Two Marches (2/4, 3/4, 4/4 or 6/8. Minimum 2 parts per tune) is to be submitted to the Judge on the day when the competitor presents to play.
Prize Monies: $75, $40, $20
Entry Fee: $5.00

Conditions of Entry:

  1. Entries Close Monday 7th April 2014.
  2. Competitors must enter their principal grade per their respective Pipe Band Association Grading.
  3. All competitors must wear highland dress, including a Glengarry or Balmoral. Ladies will be permitted to wear traditional ladies dress.
  4. All tunes must be played in their entirety as per published music.
  5. Tunes must be submitted with the entry form for all piobaireachd events, and for the Open MSR and Open Hornpipe/Jig events.
  6. Previous winners of the Intermediate, Elementary and Novice piobaireachd events are not permitted to compete in their respective events again.
  7. With the exception of the Clasp and Gold Medal Piobaireachd Competition and Open (A Grade) events, and if time and the number of entries permit, competitors may be allowed to play up into the next higher grade event with at least one different tune being submitted. The same tune(s) will not be allowed to be played in both events.
  8. Travelling expenses for Clasp, Gold Medal and Silver Medal competitors: Will be paid after the conclusion of the respective event. Victoria - $100, New South Wales - $150, Queensland/Western Australia & Tasmania - $200, New Zealand & all other Overseas countries - $300.
